“WOOF SHADOW” is an apartment building conceptualised by Tarcha Design and located in Tehran. The surface follows origami paper folding technique with tri-dimensional  surfaces/pieces and no cuts. Brick masonry being the key point for choosing this facade gives a pixelated effect when each module is moved in XY-plane. Therefore all elements (bricks) create “light and shade” to change façade into a system where overlapped pieces add texture. Adding parametric factors like surface divisions, movement factor, movement towards attractor surfaces resulted in a number of design options. The design process involves play of brick perforations, patterns which in turn filter light, visual pollution and provide privacy.

SURFACE TESSELLATIONS – Iterations

Dissimilar design explorations achieved by reversing the domain for movement of bricks.

Transforming the building skin by generating a shift from zero to 500mm in y axis based on attractor boundaries.
