The aim of the project was to create a lamp using the soaked bending method. We aimed to push the material to its full capacity of bending.

The lamp consists of strips of wood and 3 circular rings. The 14 strips of wood are bent using soaked bending in a twisted fashion. The light passes through the gaps between the strips of wood.

The 3 rings of wood are the main structural elements of the lamp. They have slits through which the wooden strips pass and are held in position. By varying the diameters of the 3 rings we have a lamp that is of a distinct circular shape. The rings hold the bent wood in tension and strengthen it. Thus by using the tension of the wood itself, we were able to create this lamp.
