Project: The Grid

Course: Introduction to Processing

The main concept is to form and deform geometries using forces as actuators and spring systems as constraints that will shape your geometry. For this project i created a three dimensional particle spring system grid and i applied an Attraction – Repulsion force emitter in the centre of the 3D grid.

The idea is to use the Attraction force and deform the particle spring systems geometry. Before the geometry disappears we invert from attraction force into repulsion force. The particles start to move in the opposite direction and when the distance between the particles is bigger than the length of the spring the particles starts to pull each other (Hooke’s Law).

If the repulsion force is equal for each particle and the direction inverted, the particles will shape back in the initial geometry. In case the direction is not the same with the direction of the attraction then the particles will form a different geometry.
