Co-living is growing in popularity in major cities around the globe, and we believe this is just the beginning. Shared living will become increasingly attractive to millions of people as they struggle to find adequate and affordable housing in cities in the years to come. In 2030 a world where technology is at the forefront of our lives, it’s hard to imagine that many of the space parameters that are available now did not exist 10 years ago; connecting spaces, recreating new spaces within old or even the reconstructing a totally abstract concept! As technology advances further, even more options will be created by just a click, leaving it open to speculation as to what will come next.

STEP 1 // Picking points and Generating geometries

at first we were able to test generating geometries using the drone to pick and choose points in a grid

STEP 2 // First iteration of Drone influencing Design

Then we managed to test the drone interaction to extrude masses in the vertical direction and generate path around them influencing the design

STEP 3 // Marking Attachment points on Mass’ facades

furthermore, marking “points of attachments” on facades for human interaction for choosing an option to generate

FINAL PROPOSAL // SCHIZO-CITY

DESIGN STRATEGY

  1. defining masses/environment boundaries // 2.generating drone path // 3. marking attachment points // 4. choosing your attachment option

INITIAL DRONE PATH – AGENT BASED

Defining the environment boundaries around the building then use agent base to generate path/loops around them for the drone to take

MARKING ATTACHMENT POINTS/SPLATTER

Using the phone would be useful way to choose where to mark/splatter the attachment points and choose the options too

DESIGN YOUR FLIGHT

HUMAN INTERACTION OPTIONS

Options of attachments : 1. Waterfall // 2. Cubics // 3. Molto // 4. Web

SCHIZO-CITY is a project of IaaC, Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia developed at Masters of Robotics and Advanced Construction in 2019-2020 by Students: Abdelrahman Koura, Alexandros Varvantakis, Cedric Droogmans, Faculty: Keith Kaseman (GT Spatial Futures Lab), Faculty Assistant: Soroush Garivani (IAAC | MRAC), Daniela Marquez (GT Spatial Futures Lab)
