FACADE REFERENCE

The task of this assignment is analyzing a facade system and replicating it with grasshopper.

Selected facade for this assignment is Manuel Gea Gonzales’s Hospital building located in Mexico City.

PROCEDURE

• Picking surface from rhino model
• Offsetting it to a certain distance
• Generating 2d points on a planar surface
• Dividing surface with planar curves through 2d generated points

• Scaling curves to define thickness of the connection
• Scaling connection curves to create desired number of detail curves

• Creating surfaces with each two curves
• Main curve + first scaled curve to define connection surface
• Repeating same process to define detail surfaces
• Adjusting the positions of detail surfaces by moving each surface after previous surface

• Converting breps to mesh
• Joining and welding the mesh
• Finally baking it
