IAAC kicked off the official opening of the third edition of Barcelona Architecture Week on May 9th with a talk by Carme Pigem of RCR Arquitectes at the Valldaura Labs Campus.

During her talk, Carme Pigem presented one of the most representative projects of her career, followed by a very insightful discussion with the Master in Advanced Ecological Building Students, and the broader IAAC student body. Carme explained key design approaches and themes during her talk and the subsequent discussion, related to the temporality of architecture, the value of identity and place-making in design, and how to understand a design, architecture, or urban context through the lens of time.

Carme’s talk was precluded by an instructive walk accompanied by MAEB Director Vicente Guallart, during which Carme was introduced to the many initiatives and activities taking place at the Valldaura Labs Campus, as well as an introduction to MAEB Students and their current construction and design prerogatives.
