What is the river water quality in Luxembourg?

Luxembourg has issues with water management, in the last decades, water treatment became an important topic to develop. This study is mainly about the rivers water quality in order to be more precise, it focuses on Alzette river which is one of the main rivers and its the main natural border for the city and also one of the most polluted rivers of the country.

Activities such as Industry or Agriculture have seral damage around the river, both generate 70.5% of river pollution,  Most of the heavy particles as sulfur, magnesium, or nitrogen are generated by industries, and organic matter like protozoon or bacteria is created by agricultural activities around the river.

Rivers Pollution Scale:

Most of the Luxembourg rivers are moderate or poor water quality, both marks represent more than 80% of the rivers which is alarming, If we compare that less than 5% of the rivers are in good quality or not polluted.

What kind of particles we can found on the Alzette river?:

A study made by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) on the Alzette river founds particles as:

As we can see water quality on the Alzette river is alarming, industries and agriculture have made several damages to the river, repercussions in health,  animal life, or plants can be horrifying for a not distant future. As a society, we have to take care of our ecosystem to preserve the balance for better life quality with our environment.
