LIVING TEXTURE

The two casted clay tiles have been made by cnc‘ing the negative shape out of high density foam. The foam was then coated with two layers of Vaseline so that the cast can be reused after the process of removal.

The first tile resembles the original aesthetics of the Porto tiles and takes it into a 3-dimensional space by playing with different heights creating creases, ripples and platforms in accordance to the colours used.

The second tile is a more abstract version of how a tile could look in the area of computational design, while still using the same design principles of mirroring and organic shapes. Organic in a broader sense not being flowers anymore but a generated structure following a parametric flow and its noise. This can then be adapted to provide an optimal habitat for living organisms.
