Danish-Icelandic artist Eliasson and Norwegian architect Thorsen of Snøhetta collaborated to design the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in 2007. The building’s protagonist is the helicoidal ramp which incorporates a twisted mesh, providing different shades and dynamics to the pavilion.
This exercise explores the potential of such panels, simulating a kinetic skin which responds to the Sun’s path. A responsive solution was developed by rotating the top of the panel according to the angle formed between its normal and the attractor point.
