FORCES OF NATURE

‘Forces of Nature’ aims to create an interactive design using physics as a main parameter. Forces are applied to the main installation in order to test and simulate the physical behavior of the structure. Using Kangaroo as main engine, different inputs are attributed to the base the geometry in order to create a catalog of variations.

The protocol of the exercise is the following:

  1. Start from a rectangle and create a mesh
  2. Set up a series of goals such as anchor point, pressure, etc.
  3. Set up 4 anchor points that allow the manipulation of the structure vertically
  4. Create a bouncy solver in order to simulate behavior
  5. Create subdivisions on mesh
  6. Set up a color based data visualization of the final mesh

Following the protocol developed, a series of variations were created in order to alter parameters such as pressure, anchoring, strength. The results also test the possibility of creating different tensile geometries and behaviors with the use of physics as a main parameter.
