Collector Wall

Intorduction to Digital Fabrication: 3D Printing

Technique : Powder Base

Concept:

Our concept for this assignment was to design a wall that collects and cools rainwater. This method was taken from a diagram that illustrated a passive fridge system by allowing air to pass through small holes while a contained placed in the middle containing the food was cooled.

The wall is constructed using an oblique-angled parallelogram shaped bricks that are parametrically stretched to the top and reduced in width. A pocket is placed on the front for water collection and the holes allow air to flow through. In a larger system the water is collected and contained behind this wall where the passing air ensures the cooler temperature of the water.

Conclusion:

The Design of this facade was made in a way where it can collect water and filter the air padding through the wall so that it can reduce the temperature difference inside.
