Narrative:

Years after the economic and financial crisis of 2025, Burning Man suddenly became an escape from reality and a return to a primitive
state of living, based on natural resources and a strong communal society. 2035 signified the year of the first permanent settlement
in the Nevada desert known as Black Rock City. During the past 65 years, the small settlement has grown to a hyper multi-regional city
constituting of more than 200 million inhabitants. The city evolved into a linear repetition of the original plan of the festival,
with an efficient infrastructural system linking the centres together - a birth of a hyper-community.

Case Study:  Burning Man

Black Rock City is the name of the temporary city created by Burning Man participants. Much of the layout and
general city infrastructure is constructed by Department of Public Works (DPW) volunteers who often reside in
Black Rock City for several weeks before and after the event. The remainder of the city including theme camps, villages,
art installations and individual camping are all created by participants.
