Ice- Skating Rink Roof by Frei Otto, 1969

Project Description

The project ‘Targeted Tension’ has been
inspired by Frei Otto’s work with cables
and tensile membranes. In his work,
Otto is trying to achieve more with
less material and effort, covering large
spans with the help of high strength
steel cables & pneumatically distended
synthetic fabric. He developed his
concepts through his investigations on
tensile stress.
In this project, the same principles
have been used to create a space for
extraterrestrial conditions, such as a
terrace.
