2018 World Flora Exposition
Taichung  / Taiwan

‘The Sound of Blooming’ hopes to invite visitors from all over the world to use their visual and auditory senses, as well as their hearts, to hear the sound of blooming and to see the flowers bloom.

?‘The Sound of Blooming’ is an outdoor art installation composed of space frames and multi-motor units. The gradual or instantaneous blooming of the mechanical Sea of Flowers convey the visual impact of flowers blooming, and the vibrant vitality of a blooming sea of flowers. It creates a symphony – an ambient sound field characterized by the sounds of nature and mechanical sounds.

This art installation is the result of collaboration between the main design team, LuxuryLogico and a number of local industries. Other than the spherical space frame and the motor-controlled component, ‘The Sound of Blooming’ also features the integrated use of lighting control and environmental control systems, as well as parametric design. It is hoped that the presentation of this art installation will convey the vibrant vitality of a sea of blooming flowers, incorporating human, technological and natural elements, where visitors resemble honey bees darting between the flowers as they cross between the interior and exterior of the art installation, painting a picture of harmonious coexistence between human and nature.? ?
