Introduction

Slime Molds Are Earth’s Smallest, Oldest Farmers.

When the inner field of the fungus dries out, the microbes that live inside start calling for each other to assemble in a very fascinating way, towards central collection spots.

The microbes organize themselves in lines that are directed to the edges of the cores to support and ensure the survival of the organism.

The result is a wiggling mass that would contain all the cells that gathered to give life to this new organism.

Base Geometry

Base Geometry Iteration

The base geometry is an Octagon that is iterated into a branching core. The branches start forming only from the furthest points of the iterated geometry from the center of the base geometry.

Growth Environment

Concept – Growth Environment

The branching elements’ growth starts from the ground level of the structure, then the branches climb through the open spaces of the ceiling to form a new shell as an extension to the pavilion. The newly generated roof structure is expanding within a given curved ceiling form.

Exploded Diagram of the proposal

The resulting form of the branching elements is a blooming mass that grows from the core iterated geometry that is located on water and top surfaces of the structure.
