Agri-Clip at Llobregat Parc Agrari

Manifesto

  • The Llobregat Agricultural Park is an agricultural land with a rich history and importance to the city. It is under a constant pressure of industrialization and development which has affected the agricultural land to a very large scale.
  • The spread of huge roadways and transport networks on the agricultural land and parks lack of connectivity with the city has put a lot of stress on its inner territory.
  • The Agri-Clip aims to built a new landscapes around these road networks so that the park regains its continuous green landscape and forms a better connection with the cities around it.
  • The project also caters some of the modern amenities like Bio-Markets, Waste to Energy Plant and Post Harvesting Facility for the agricultural park.

Ecological Interaction Workshop by Jonathan Minchin

Threshing

Threshing is the process of loosening the edible part of grain (or other crop) from the straw to which it is attached. It is the step in grain preparation after reaping. The straw that is produced is called Chaff.

Chaff

Chaff is the dry, scaly protective casing of the seeds of cereal grains, or similar fine, dry, scaly plant material such as scaly parts of flowers, or finely chopped straw. Chaff is indigestible by humans, but livestock can eat it and in agriculture it is used as livestock fodder, or is a waste material ploughed into the soil or burned.

Inference from the workshop

Biomarket Workshop by Alejandro Haiek

The above animation represents the density of road networks inside the farmland. These density must be reduced to more connected agricultural spaces

Site Selection

Physical Modelling

The 3D printed model represents the density of masses formed over the road networks. If we look closely, we can get a sloping pattern which can be further developed into a proposal.

Form Finding through Biomorph

Generic Mutation tools have been applied on the road network so as to create a space where different iterations can be made where the agricultural land is connected by forming a surface that overlaps the road network. the following is the process of genetic mutation through Biomorph.

Selected Iteration

Converting the Optimized surface into geometry

Implementing Design into Site

The geometry after being added in the site looks very out of place. So we will try to put landscape in the design.

Even after adding the landscapes, it looks a bit out of place as the green spaces do not blend with each other. We will now try to blend the geometry with the farmland.

The Site now looks blended and continuity can be generated by adding trees and agricultural lands on the proposed landscape.
