The book HiperCatalunya, written by Metàpolis and undertaken at the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC), analyzes the territorial of Catalonia and shows us different future prospects. It is divided in two books which hold together magnetically.
The first part occupied with researching and mapping, here we can find statistical about Catalonia and the world. The magnetic cohesion should probably be an allusion of this important but different part of the book. Inside we can find different charts and graphics about the population, climate, surface area, infrastructure, energy resources and consumption, student migration, etc. all of them are always link with other countries and so show much more then only the part of Catalonia.
The second part contain the architectural and urban planning,. With studies from a lot of fame designer and architects for example Actar Arquitectura, FOA, Xaveer de Geyter, Abalos & Herreros, MVRDV, NL Architects, NO.mad Arquitectura, Javier Peia, Roche & Sie…, UN Studio, and West 8, among others. This creative’s show us different possibilities of the future of Catalonia. But we can use it not only for this area it is obvious relevance for anywhere and everywhere. The proposed scenarios consider such issues as senior tourism, sport cities, university campus, industrial parks, airports and suburbia.
With this kind of presentation of different scenarios they show the potential of the region in a quiet new kind, which encouraging interpretations open to potential interaction between the existing and the imaginable.
