Research project which tries to explore the possibilities of nature structures n architecture. Here I used two different structures first the dragon wing and second a glass sponge. The whole project is done with Rhino, Rhinoscript, Explicit and Implicit history of Rhino.

THE PUZZLE HOUSE
Design and digital fabrication of houses for existing environments in Dominican Republic.

As a result of the climatic change, nowadays we are affronting so many natural disasters that in their crossing leave millions of human and material losses: devastated cities and millions of people stay without a place to live.

In this research we try to explore some aspects of design and digital fabrication that can be part of a solution to those transitional moments, emergency or catastrophes.

We are proposing the use of the digital fabrication so we can give a solution to the people of lower resources, which in these situations have lost their houses, and to present an improvement at the same time at urban level and of quality of life.

The proposal doesn’t just search a solution to the emergency situations, but its flexibility makes it possible to be adapted to any place and situation, being able to created new urban spaces in the cities.

The main idea consists in combining the digital fabrication and a flexible parametric design to reproduce smaller instantaneous houses of 60 m2, of low cost and that can be fabricated and adaptable to the place where it has to be settle using the manufacturing processes CNC (Computer Numeric Control).

In this case we take an urban sector next to the river Ozama as the model place, in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where through the time the inhabitants of the area have developed complete sectors without an order nor urban pattern.

This way we understand that creating temporary houses to answer to an emergency situation, we can adapt a parametric model to the same urban pattern that has been developed by the people of the place. Like this in the critical moments after a catastrophe we avoid a massive mobilization and prolonged stay in the safety places.

We understand that this Project is a good way to demonstrate the possibilities and flexibility of the parametric design and digital fabrication for solve an actual problematic.
