Multiple Results – Derived as process-based designs by using the tools provided by the new means of technology and know how, students presented their work With Jordi Pagès i Ramon and Lluis Viu and guest critics Faculty Marta Malé-Alemany, faculty Areti Markopoulou, faculty Olaf Gipser and guests Eduardo Gutierrez from On-a architects www.on-a.es and Denis Maher www.assembledcityfragments.com ,they presented their work, which also opened discussions on how far one can push a design or a system to make it work for the user as well as the designer. Each project varied from design of hotels, bridges, housing log details, and structural systems.

IAAC Masters Alumini wins FuturArc Prize
Yick Ho Alvin Kung (Hongkong) an IaaC Maters Alumini (thesis in Digital Tectonics) recently won an international competition for sustainable architecture from a Singaporean magazine. His competition entry for the FuturArc Prize is his thesis project, advised by Professor Marc Aurel. More information about the competition could be found at http://www.futurarc.com/index.cfm and his entry at http://www.futurarc.com/prize_winners/2010_students/FAP_Student_Winner/1st.cfm. Alvin’s vision is to achieve sustainable and performative solutions through parametric design thinking and method.
Master Project III: Multiple Results
Preparing for their finals , the MPIII class is progressing with each student consulting with Jordi Pagès i Ramon and Lluis Viu. Every outline for every project is different, some present with out renders, some do, some present variations, some present systems, and others processes. Students will have their last consult on the 28th which will mark the end of their classes.
Disseny Hub Barcelona-Opening of works

Opening day at the Design Hub Barcelona

The Design Hub Barcelona is now exhibiting works of famous artists and designers in the world of digital fabrication, Manufacturing Laboratory as a theme – is an exhibition With a variety of works ranging from permanent exhibitions, to a laboratory where one can participate and manufacture real time, and includes workshops and conferences. The permanent Exhibition – Curated by IaaC co-director Marta Malé–Alemany, shows different applications of 3D printing technologies in the world of medicine, food and buildings.Students from School of Architecture at the Architectural Association (AA) together with IaaC students have also exhibited their projects under guidance by Marta Malé–Alemany, Jeroen Van Ameijde (London) and faculty Victor Vina (Iaac-Barcelona).
The Dhub Fab an extension of the fab Lab is also placed at the museum where one can manufacture his/her own projects there in real time. Fablab team will assist these manufacturing processes.
This Exhibition will continue through out the year till May 2011. For more information on the exhibition go to dhub-bcn.
Master Project Theme III-Multiple Results
Students are experimenting on how to proceed with their projects, they are in the current stage where they are proposing their design ideas and also the possibilities which might emerge from these. Jordi Pagès i Ramon and Lluis Viu helped students to develop and fulfill their projects through different approaches. Students should go to digital drawings now to see their projects in progress.
Master Project III: Multiple Results
With the Team of Jordi Pagès i Ramon and Lluis Viu the Theme of ‘Multiple Results or the exuberant world of possibilities’ has started. In the current paradigm of architectural design, scripting and parametric control, the idea of multiplicity takes a new momentum.A bigger importance is given to the projects “solution” rather than to the resulting formal structure, visualizing the implicit multiplicity of forms and structures within the ranges of different parameters. This opens up a world of possibilites that the studio wants to tab. Students spoke to the team aiming to make their architectural projects a final version which will be a series of multiple possibilities.
