‘WATER PARASITE’

USING PARASITIC ARCHITECTURE TO ASSIST IN THE MANAGEMENT OF RAIN WATER IN  VALLDAURA.

This Project was part of workshop “ Informed Intervention” to explore a digitizing workflow in the design process, by involving Drones and Computer Vision; combined with digital design and mass customized fabrication process for refurbishing.  The goal of this workshop was to  learn and practice technologies at the core of this workflow and propose a digital architectural intervention that adapt its shape and configuration to a particular building that will be 3d scanned by drones. On the Technological side, the Drone Scanning will be an automated collection of multi spectral images, allowing to remotely gather images in order to maximize the amount of data collection and minimize timing of the overall operation  and  to develop an algorithmic design capable to take as input the scanned data point and to deliver as an output an architectural intervention integrated in its scanned context.

The goal of this project was to use 3D-Scanning with a drone to choose and plan a parasitic architectural concept at  Iaac Valldaura Campus.

SITE : Iaac Valldaura Campus

WEATHER ANALYSIS : The weather-data of Valldaura, Barcelona is analyzed with context to the site.

DESIGN CONCEPT: Our Design is envisioned as a network of Drains, Green Walls, pipes and Tanks that collects rain water and facilitates its use for other functions.

LOCATION OF RAIN WATER / DRAIN PIPES : The Existing Rainwater Pipes Location identified to start the design process.
