There are three countries in Europe that have the potential to develop both summer and winter
tourism- France, Italy and Bulgaria. While the first two are world leaders in it, Bulgaria is at the
very end of the chart. Its winter tourism’s development has been blocked from around 10
years. While the building sector in the bigger winter resorts like Bansko, Pamporovo and
Borovets appears flourishing, there is a huge overbuilding that is starting to repel tourists and
cuts out working places and economical investments for quality projects. This essay is going
discuss the impact of non-political green organizations and their activities on the building sector
and economy in winter resorts in Bulgaria.
