Rintala’s legacy of small, poetic wooden structures both complement their natural settings and lend students intimate, practical knowledge of materiality through hands-on rapid construction workshops, which means they comprise an ideal source of inspiration for the MAEBB’s upcoming final project: a self-sufficient, advanced ecological quarantine cabin made of local timber!

The pictured works by Sami Rintala were presented to the students of the Master of Advanced Ecological Buildings & Biocities (MAEBB), a program of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia co-directed by Vicente Guallart and Daniel IbaƱez.
