Inspiration
This project addresses a fundamental human right – to be able to consume your hot beverages while they remain hot.
In this increasingly busy life we lead, it’s all to easy to dismiss the important things – like when you brew a cup of tea, only to forget about it.
In order to stem this issue, we have developed a Smart Coaster for your tea. No more shall your mind wonder as you check endless emails, forgetting about your sacred beverage. With the Smart Coaster, you have a constant visual representation of the status of your tea, updating you on the temperature – saving you time testing tea that is just too hot, much too cold or just right.

Premium models also include a safely feature to ensure your don’t spill a drop. The interactive centralising system provides millimetre accuracy when locating the position of your tea. You can rest assured knowing your beverage is completely stable, even if your life isn’t.
Process
The Smart Coaster uses two main components to physically and emotionally secure your tea. A central temperature sensor surrounded by a series of light detectors. These analog inputs are fed into a Processing file, via Arduino, where the data is recorded, to produce a dynamic graphic, mapping the dilapidation from ‘bliss to blah’.
Future models to include mobil phone connectivity, to ensure that in the home or office, you always stay connected to your tea.
