Objective:
To find-

1.Individual rotation angles of ellipse triangle and rectangle, which constitute the profile base curve.
2. The two rotation angles of profile base curve which would create the column.

Optimum solution –

As the inspiration for column is cactus, optimum column would be the one with most number of spikes (edges).

initial manual setting

Initial manual settings for base curve.

disconnect the recorder and internalize data

Connect the sliders for rotation angles as parameters and test for no. of edges.

1

Connect recorders to these parameters and value to check.

Capture

Test for maximum value, set population size, generations, etc and run the solver.

3

Arrange all the solutions recorded in an array based on generations and highlight the best solution in each generation. Also attach them with the angles of rotations and no. of edges in each column for future reference.

6

As Galapagos will test only for max. no. of edges, we can hand pick the column that looks visually appealing out of the best solutions in each generation.

Problems faced :

1.Grasshopper crashed many times as the file became very large due to storing thousands of columns.
2.Even after disconnecting the recorder ,it could not store data and every time you restart, the data is vanished.
3. Due to non-storage of data, columns could not be baked in the desired format.
Although, the optimum solution remains stored in the sliders.
