Cardboard stool

A laser cut assignment

For the second assignment in the DPA class (Digital Prototyping for Architecture), we were requested to explore the possibilities of the lasercut technology. We had to produce a three dimensional object from two dimensional drawings exploring the inherent properties of the cardboard. We were given 20 panels of 3-4mm corrugated cardboard of 900x600mm.

We initally opted for this pattern to increase flexibility and facilitate assembly. Soon, we realized with our first test that the pattern weakened the cardboard too much.
