In anticipation of the upcoming warm season, this design by english designer

langton stead will come in handy. s(tool) is a bent wood seat back with two garden

forks attached to the bottom, when inserted into your lawn you can sit back and relax.

langton worked in conjunction with ercol furniture, a well known bent wood furniture maker.

saatchi & saatchi have developed the piss-screen for the
frankfurt taxi service to encourage drinkers to take a taxi
home instead of driving drunk. it employs pressure-sensitive
inlays in urinals which allow you to control a video game
with your pee. they also designed the accompanying
driving game in the vain of ‘need for speed’, a street based
racing game with frequent crashes, to enforce the message
of the dangers of drink driving. the piss screen has been
placed in the mens restrooms of bars across frankfurt.

The LED displays at Mexico City, show a timer along with a green man that is not only animated but runs faster as the timer counts down.

Two weeks ago (During our final rush,we couldnt realize it) the American institute of architects‘ announced the italian architect Renzo Piano as the winner of its 2008 gold medal.

The award honors a significant body of work that has had a lasting influence on architecture.

Piano’s accomplishments range from the menil collection in houston to the art institute of Chicago’s modern wing, now under construction, to the recently completed new york times headquarters in new york. The washington DC -based institute praised Piano’s structures as ’sculptural, beautiful, technically accomplished and sustainable.’

But my favorite among his works is Pompidou Center. I was very lucky to see this building during my Paris travel last February.

Dutch designer jonas samson has created wallpaper with integrated lighting. The product appears to be regular wallpaper when the light is off and when illuminated can display light in any pattern or design. The design enables a room to be entirely light by the walls, eliminating the need for a lamp.
