Mteriality in architecture is the concept of, or applied use of various materials or substances in the medium of building.
In the age of interaction and media, new materials keep appearing in the field of architecture. But could we say that interaction or media themselves represent the new materiality of architecture?
Urban Space is a term that has a lot of definitions, in terms of how each one of us defines it and lives in it. What if we erase all the urban sounds around us? Then what is our vision of urban space?

“Architecture is all about boundaries and transitions and their intersection with human and social practice(…)” We relate or give meaning to space depending on our interaction with it.
Urban computing, such as WiFi or cell phone signals, or mobile locating services, creates a new layer of infrastructure, added in the urban space. “New technologies cause people to re-encounter spaces(…)” With this simultaneous layering we are clearly creating a physical and not a virtual infrastructure on urban space, that should be thought as one with the existing physical structure of space. “We need to think architecturally about the mobile and wireless technologies that we develop and deploy, the human side of infrastructures(…)”
The E-Motive House is a research project, experimenting on interacting spaces. Its form is a long movable space with two solid blocks on both ends. The space in between, changes its shape and content, depending on the weather and the movement of its inhabitants, therefore changing the geometry and developing its own emotion.
