 Our interest was to focus on the noise produced by leisure activities and relate it to the general noise measured in the Old City during the day and the night. The developed diagrams show the different levels of noise in all three parts of the Old Town_ El Raval, El Gótico, El Borne and refer them to the Noise Law of 2003. We found out that the noisiest area of Ciutat Vella is El Gótico. In general we were suprised by the fact that the noise levels of the day do not differ much from the night ones.

The “Noise Sequences_BCN”- map relocates the measured sequences  in an abstract grid showing the relationship between each measured spot in the city.

Our group is going to develop 3 different maps considering the 3 parts of the old city as “El Raval”, “El Gotico” and “El Borne”. We are already working on those maps but we are still missing more recordings.

 In order to get an idea of our presentation, you can see an example of the “El Borne” map (undeveloped).

For this week the SOUND group has subdevided into 3 subgroups in order to work on different topics. The three topics are “Source and Sound”, “Sound and Law” and “Leisure and Sound”.

Our group tried to map the relationship between the maximun level of noise measured in one specific spot and the noiselevel caused by leisure.

The sound representation idea: the chart that contains the information (level, cause, absorption of sound) is rolled into a cylinder placed on the map to indicate the point of measuring.
