IAAC Advanced Architecture Group Leading Innovation at Barcelona Building Construmat

The twentieth edition of Barcelona Building Construmat, Barcelona’s international construction show on the 23rd – 26th of May, will be putting a particular emphasis on innovation and new technologies, the driving force behind the changes that the construction sector is currently experiencing.

IAAC has once again been invited to take part to the fair and showcase its most recent research projects about additive and robotic manufacturing applied to the construction sector. The days of the show will be marked by many appointments, which details you will find below.

IAAC and Tecnalia Bring Automation to the Construction Site 
  • Date: Tuesday, 23rd to Friday 26th of May, from 9:30 to 19:00
  • Venue: Gran Via, Hall 2 – Tech Centres & Universities Zone, Future Arena

Come and see how IAAC and Tecnalia will build on site a 3D printed pavilion in just four days! “On Site Robotic” is a project combining additive manufacturing with natural materials and the advantages of the use of robots driven by cables in a pioneering system which allows building large-scale constructions on the construction site. [Read more]

Mireia Luzarraga about Innovation at the Construmat Talks

IAAC Faculty Mireia Luzarraga will join the talk titled “Observation”, which will focus on the presentation and discussion of practices that monitor building realities, in order to detect opportunities for reinvention that are often closer to ethnography, market research or material evaluation, which have become essential for designers and business managers. [Read more]

Areti Markopoulou Presents “On Site Robotics” at the Future Arena

IAAC Academic Director Areti Markopoulou will present “On Site Robotics”, the collaborative project of IAAC and Tecnalia, which demonstrates the potentials of additive manufacturing technology and robotics in the production of sustainable low-cost buildings that can be built on site with 100% natural materials. [Read more]

Daniel Isern and IAAC about the Digital Generation of a Ceramic Façade

The architect Daniel Isern presents the short film “Digital Generation of a Ceramic Façade”, which documents the creative process behind his collaboration with IAAC in the design of the façade of the Ohla Hotel in Barcelona using music, algorithms and robotics applied to a traditional material such as ceramics. [Read more]

The Future of Construction at IAAC’s Round Table

“Building the Future of Construction” is a round table organized by IAAC within the framework of the Barcelona Architecture Week, with the aim of bringing together experts from academia, research centers and industry in a debate on the impact of robotics, 3D printing and advanced materials technologies on the future of construction. [Read more]
