June 17 marks the 10th anniversary of the Fab Lab House, the first solar house produced in Barcelona, carried out by IAAC in its workshop in the 22 @ neighborhood. The project took part in the first Solar Decathlon Europe and won the first prize from the public. It was developed from September 2008 by a multi-disciplinary team of more than 50 people, led by the co-directors of the MAEBB Vicente Guallart & Daniel Ibañez together with Rodrigo Rubio.

The building is entirely made of wood, produced with digital manufacturing, both in its structure and the façade. High-efficiency flexible photovoltaic panels were innovated and the house was managed to be disconnected from the grid. In this way, this prototype can teach how the new generation of ecological buildings should populate our Biocities.
