Rodrigo and I have been working on the global eating for the Born area. The following file is the current state of our investigation, we are aware that this type of investigation takes time, however we have tried to be very rigurous and have included many more restaurants this time around.

Group Theme is ‘Digital Urban Happenings’
Urbanomaly - Term used to describe a situation in city life that is completely seperate from its context. A social or economic hiccup in the normal flow of a metropolitan area.
Derived from:
Urban -
1: Related to the (or any) city.
2: Characteristic of city life.
Anomaly -
1: An irregularity or misproportion.
2: Something that is strange or unusual.
From Webster’s Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary, Springfield, Massachusetts, G.&C. Merriam Co., 1967
An urbanomaly appears as cities grow. They appear as situations that are out of the ordinary. Chicken farms in L.A., is an example of how a city’s community is bent towards consuming poultry in a natural way, trying to have a direct connection with their food. Something that seems impossible in todays prepackaged cities. Another type of anomaly is a city with sky scrapers that was built in the year 500 A.D.. The singularity of this city makes the city itslef an urbanomaly. The dense and seemingly homogenous fabric that creates these anomalies is always growing and constantly changing, the fact that these anomalies appear is proof of this quality.

sorry about the late post, had some technicall difficulties.
In my journal drawings, i was most concerned with the relationship of the prices of restaurants and their relationship with open spaces or plazas, Seeing as some very expensive places were open to the public view and not hidden in an alley. My primary concern is to try to map this relationship, but more research needs to be done. Some of my group members have also expressed a concern with how else we can categorize or classify the restaurants, not just by price but also by type of food sold. Below are the graphics due last week, as well as some of my drawings from my journal.

In the countless blogs that appear in brandavenue, one of my first posts, appears a blog called blog like you give a damn, the official blog of architecture for humanity. It presents a view of architecture as a savior, or how it help the relief efforts in natural disaster areas, or poverty stricken countries. It´s info is varied but alays very pertinent to the world condition. Apart from the interesting posts here, the blogs that are linked to this blog are worth to look at. One of these that I found particularly interesting isthe deputydog site. An interesrting site with an original take on the urban condition. Like brandavenue it showcases varied examples of ¨urban phenomena¨. Looking at earlier posts theres a large database of these kinds of urban exceptions. For future reference.

This is Francois Roche’s website about the architecture done at R & Sie. The amount of tabs there are here is overwhelming at first, but I assure you that in each tab there are interesting projects or concepts. His office has been at the forefront of architecture for a while now and his projects either completed or proposed are all exceptional. ENJOY!
Heres a link to their latest project bitterness, its a book in PDF form:

Brand avenue is a blog, about different social and urban phenomena occurring in the world today. Although varied the blog concentrates mainly on contradiction to each specific condition. The last entry was about the chicken farms inside urban areas, where the people who live in densly populated areas are trying to get back to the rural way of life, in this case by chicken farming. The whole blog talks about different social and urban contradictions, and its information all seems to lead to rethinking the way we live today. To step out of the urban, suburban, and rural context and find a middle point, our identity. The moreyou read on the more strange examples turn up. It has plenty of pictures to help explain the posts, and its straightforward, clean design make it pretty easy to read.
The next blog is a group of students who have created a group for research and construction, in the university of Granada. They are a group of architecture students, and some faculty members. This group is concentrated in putting art and culture and create a community whos purpose is to spread this kind of hands on learning. The are embarking on an architecture project, that they are building them selves. The blog is interesting although too many posts and varied information makes it hard to keep a straight line of thought. Besides this the site is pretty good, and it presents itself very simply, with plenty of links to go to all their sources and topics.
The blogs present two topics of interest, the need toreflect and to takeinto acount the underlying layers of todays urbanitty, and the social need to organize and to take a direction free of an established doctrine.
